How Often Do You Clean...the toothbrush holder

Cleaning the toothbrush holder...it's a dirty job but someones got to do it.
I used to clean the toothbrush holder every time I clean the bathroom, but then we got one that has the top glued on with the 4 holes in it and so I am so guilty of NEVER cleaning it.
I happened to look in it a few weeks ago and almost vomited. A health hazard for sure, and ever since I have been doing my best to clean it out. But no matter what I shoved in there nothing was getting all the nasty out...UNTIL (this is a tip to keep up your sleeve for sure!)I read in House Beautiful to fill it with water then drop 1 Alkaseltzer in and letting it do its work, all the bubbles go to town breaking down the nasty. CRAZY! In 2 minutes my toothbrush holder was sparkling clean! No elbow grease necessary, not even a drop of sweat just an Alkaseltzer. If you never buy it I recommend getting a package for this reason alone. The quick cleaning of this made me want to know how often one should actually clean your toothbrush holder. It's really not surprising...OFTEN! Like every week, because of the bacteria and stuff. So I am vowing to do this more often for sure. I may neglect my fans or my toaster but never again will I neglect my toothbrush holder!

                             (Before)                                                                                (After)

      Have you recently been shocked by the nasty in your toothbrush holder?
Any more tips or tricks for these little 4 holed bad boys?

Jen

I run my toothbrush holder through the dishwasher once a month...more often if I think about it. Thinking of all the nasties lurking in there makes me cringe.

I think Alkaseltzer is your best bet to keep your 4-hold, lid won't come off holder clean. The effervescent action does wonders.

I use a wine glass to hold mine and my DH's toothbrushes. And since it's clear...I can see when it gets icky and just pop it in the dishwasher! I did have one like yours, but the battery type toothbrushes don't fit in it! So I just grabbed what I had on hand, and extra wine glass!

Don't mean to gross you out, but I saw a report on bathroom germs & have resorted to storing my toothbrushes in a plastic bin in a drawer, Unless your toilet is in a seperate room, when you flush with the lid open, let's just say germs go airborne. I kid you not, this about KILLED me!! If your toilet is in it's own room you should be fine, or just make sure your lids down when you flush, Sorry for crossing the polite line on this one, but had to let you know! :}

We should always make sure that our toothbrushes and holders are clean. There's another way recommended by dentists - soaking it in 1 part bleach to 3 parts water.

Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content
so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text
for only having one or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
